Hey, dead people! You should come up to the Hog's Head. I'm sure Dad would love to see you.

Damn, I love Halloween at the Hog's Head. It's kind of hard to tell who's dressed up and who's just come as themselves. Hags, vampires, every weirdo around is here tonight. You lot can have your fancy parties. I'm sure they're fun but seriously nothing beats the true bizarreness of the Hog's Head tonight.

So, you know, if you don't mind the stranger side of society and want cheap drinks and a bit of fun, come on down. The more the merrier.

You know, all this fuss over fathers and whatnot of late makes me think that I got pretty lucky in the matter of my father. Dad might be old and a little cranky first thing in the morning but he was always there from as long as I can remember. He's always been a pretty cool Dad too. You know, despite the cranky in the morning thing, which is fine because I know a lot of people are cranky in the morning.

I mean, I do have an uncle who's a portrait and an aunt who's a portrait too for that matter but that's not too bad. My aunt's very sweet and my uncle's completely barmy but he's a lot of fun too.

I've always considered myself pretty lucky to have the family I do.

Hey, these things are pretty cool. I've already been warned by Dad that if I spend more time reading and writing in this than serving the customers, he's going to give me a clip round the ear and he doesn't care how old I am. I probably shouldn't have laughed but the day Dad actually does something like that is the day the world will end. Definitely a case of his bark is worse than his bite.

Dad's just in a grouchy mood. His latest goat died. Old age, I think but Dad's still grouchy. I'll have to see if I can find a new one for him. I have to agree with him that goats are really good pets. They're useful, they have interesting personalities and they're kind of good at being guard dogs. Or guard goats. Whatever. I like them.
